Halesowen College showcasing virtual reality at open days

Halesowen College will be stepping into the digital future for its open events this November.

The Whittingham Road campus will be open from 4pm to 8pm on November 6 and from 10am to 4pm on November 7 for all potential students to check out the state of the art facilities and range of courses on offer.

People are welcome to step into virtual reality with new technology Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard – new systems that bring virtual reality to life.

As well as the new iPad Robot which gives students a big moveable base for their iPad to have a new two-way conversation.

Keith Bate, Principal at Halesowen College, said: "The college is at the forefront of including new technology in its teaching and facilities to enhance learning and prepare our students for higher education and the needs of employers."

Altogether the college has spent £20m upgrading facilities over the last few years and construction has started on a new £3m Performing Arts Centre for September 2016 which will provide specialist accommodation for both rehearsals and performance of music, drama and dance.

The college's campus at Coombs Wood is being transformed into an Advanced Science and Technology Centre which is due to launch later next month.

Halesowen College offers the widest range of courses in the area, ranging from entry level to foundation degrees and enjoys an excellent reputation, record breaking results and an outstanding campus.
