Brewood Middle School rated inadequate after letting pupils go home for afternoon
A school which put pupils at risk by asking them to leave at lunchtime has been graded 'inadequate' by inspectors.
Education watchdog Ofsted found a catalogue of failings when it visited Brewood Church of England Middle School over two days in December 2016 – but the school has now appealed the verdict.
Some pupils attended school in the morning and were then allowed by leaders to go home by the afternoon.
The report stated: "Some pupils on part-time timetables go home for the afternoon session.
"Leaders are not certain who looks after them during the afternoon and cannot be sure of their safety during school time. The safety of these pupils is at risk."

The school, in School Road, Brewood, had 419 pupils aged between nine and 13 at the end of last year.
Some registers were found to be inaccurate and 'too many' children were found to be absent from school, a trend over the last three years.
Safeguarding was found to be 'inadequate' at the school and the leadership from governors was rated the same.
The inspection stated: "Inspectors found inaccurate register entries, insecure documentation about the care of pupils and incomplete, out-of-date and disorganised logs of support for people at risk.
"Leaders could not, therefore, be sure of the safety and well-being of all pupils."
Governance was 'inadequate' and governors were found to have 'an inaccurate view of the school'.
However the quality of teaching, behaviour and welfare, along with the outcome pupils could expect, were all found to be 'good'.
In English, maths and science teaching was praised as 'highly effective' and lessons were 'stimulating and supportive'.
David Swift, the school's executive headteacher, said: "We as a school are disappointed with this outcome, and are in the process of challenging this decision as we feel this doesn't reflect our school accurately.
"We have worked hard to address the issues identified by Ofsted, and are confident that these have been resolved."
