Walsall primary school removed from special measures

A Walsall primary school has been taken out of 'special measures' by education watchdog Ofsted.

Leamore Primary School in Bloxwich has been praised by council bosses and inspectors for its improvement since being placed in special measures back in 2013.

Inspectors then said teaching was not up to scratch, learning was slow and teachers did not check pupils' progress closely enough.

However, under a new senior leadership team led by headteacher Michelle Hill, improvements have been made.

Councillor Chris Towe, Walsall Council's education boss, said "The strong leadership emerging from within Leamore has clearly played a big part in this recent result."
