A third of Staffordshire schools not good enough
Almost a third of secondary schools in Staffordshire require improvement, according to the latest Ofsted results.
Twenty secondary schools out of the 62 that have been inspected are currently rated as not good enough.
The new data shows that 32.3 per cent of the county's secondaries are judged as under-performing and two are in special measures.
The shocking figures were revealed during a county council meeting yesterday.
Councillor Ben Adams, cabinet member for learning and skills, also revealed the figures for primary schools, with just over 16 per cent of them needing to improve.
He said: "There are 45 primary schools out of 268 graded by Ofsted inspectors as 'requires improvement', 16.8 per cent.
"There are six primary schools in the category of special measures."
Councillor Adams said work was also ongoing to improve Staffordshire's schools.
