Principal returns to where his further education career began
A newly-appointed principal and chief executive is returning to the college where he worked for 13 years.
Andy Dobson will take up his new position at Halesowen College on January 6.
He got his first job in further education at the college in Whittingham Road and stayed there for 13 years in a range of different roles.
He has been principal of Kidderminster College for the last 10 years.
Mr Dobson, who lives in Halesowen, said is keen to get back to his local community.
He said: “I am very much looking forward to coming back to Halesowen.
“The college has fantastic facilities and dedicated staff.
'Inspiring'
“Taken together, this gives us a great opportunity to create a really inspiring environment for learning.
“One of my main aims will be to get the college the recognition it deserves, and really establish its reputation as the first choice college for students, parents, businesses and the local community.”
One of the key challenges for the new year at the further and higher education college will be the on-going coronavirus pandemic and its impact on teaching and learning.
Mr Dobson added: “For everyone it has been a very different first term and the start of 2021 will have its challenges too.
“The college has worked really hard to keep everyone safe and make sure that learning has continued, and these will remain top priorities.
“We want to make sure all of our students have the best possible experience and make the best possible progress through this year.”
