Walsall school to fund monthly birthday party for pupils who miss out due to Covid
A primary school will hold a birthday party each month to celebrate its pupils who have missed out during the pandemic.
Goldsmith Primary Academy in Walsall has pledged to fund a party on the last Friday afternoon of each month to celebrate the pupils who have had their birthdays that month.
And each pupil who has had their birthday will be given a small cake.
The school says they are holding the parties as the pupils are missing out celebrating their birthdays due to Covid restrictions.
In the letter the school says: "We have seen a wonderful idea from another school and we think it is something really special that we would like to introduce here at Goldsmith.
"As a result of the current Covid restrictions, many children are missing out on celebrating their birthday with family and friends as they usually would, with parties or gatherings that are currently not allowed during this time.
"We understand our children have already had so many challenges and had to adapt to new rules and regulations both at home and school, and their emotional wellbeing is something that is very important to us.
"Therefore, we would like to give them the opportunity to celebrate their birthdays in school with their class friends!
"We have decided we will hold a birthday party within each class on the last Friday afternoon of each month, this will be to celebrate all children who have had their birthday that month.
Treats
"All children will have their packed lunch or school meal as normal.
"During the afternoon (the last Friday of every month), school will provide fun games, activities, snacks/treats and a party atmosphere.
"There will also be a little cake for each birthday child! All the part costs will be covered by the school. Children must still come to school in their normal school uniform.
"If your child has already had their birthday during September and October, they will be included in the first birthday celebration after half term.
"We look forward to beginning this when we return to school, giving every child the opportunity to celebrate with their friends and mark their special day!"
