Pupils at Ormiston NEW Academy, based in Wolverhampton, got the chance to interact with a therapy rabbit, called Mabel, and a bearded dragon called Georgie.

The visit was conducted by HugglePets in the Community, which specialises in animal-assisted therapy, helping different communities in the West Midlands to improve their social, emotional and mental health through a variety of creative initiatives.

The visit was part of the organisation’s current mission to provide comfort and support for students struggling with anxiety and low mood, as they return back to school.

Rebecca Warner, senior vice principal of Ormiston NEW Academy, said: “As an avid lover of animals myself, it was a delight to welcome HugglePetsCIC to our academy.”
