Student at Walsall school tests positive for coronavirus
Students have been asked to self-isolate after a positive case of coronavirus at a Walsall school.
Willenhall E-ACT Academy said a student in Year 8 has tested positive for Covid-19.
An academy spokesman said: "The academy has been made aware that a student has unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19. We wish our student a swift recovery as they self-isolate for a period of 10 days.
"We have since been working closely with Public Health England who have advised that individuals who have been in close contact with the student should also self-isolate for 14 days as a precaution.
More Covid-19 coverage:
"The affected student is in the year 8 bubble and will have had no contact with students in other year groups. We are therefore working closely with the families of the relevant students who are being asked to self-isolate.
"As robust safety measures are in place at the academy, including regular and focussed cleaning and the arrangement of students and staff into bubbles to limit contact between individuals, Public Health England are satisfied that the academy can remain open to all other students and staff.
"The health and wellbeing of our children and staff is our number one priority, and we will continue to take every precaution here at the academy to ensure their safety.”
