More than £2,500 has been raised to help a school after it was hit by flood damage - and now pupils want to say a big thank you to everyone for their support.

Last week all pupils were allowed back on site at St Peter's Catholic Primary School, three weeks after flood damage forced it to close.

But the hall is still out of action, which means pupils have to eat lunch in their classrooms, assemblies cannot be held and P.E takes place outside.

The Bloxwich school was closed for a week after a leaking toilet pipe caused the damage last month, and before last week half of the pupils were having to be taught elsewhere.

Parents and the local community have clubbed together and helped to raise more than £2,500 to help the school.

Lucy Adams, mother to Lily, eight, and Macy, three, said: "We want to say thank you to everyone who has donated.

"We had two big donations from two companies, 247 Taxis and Rock Steady Music.

"The headteacher said to me she is going to let the kids decide what the money will be spent on.

"They've been out of a routine and have been here, there and everywhere, so she said she would like to treat them.

"The headteacher is hoping the school hall will be completed after Easter, and it will all be back to normal then.

"Everyone pulled together as a community and helped each other with childcare and giving lifts.

"My youngest is at the nursery and staff removed bits from the nursery to take away to where they were taught temporarily so it would be some normality for them.

"They didn't have to do that at all."
