The Stretton Lodge Day Nursery and Preschool, formerly known as Vernon Lodge School, which takes in children up to the age of five, has opened following a refit costing almost £30,000.

The new owners Clare and Mark Wyatt are planning to host the official opening at the site in Stretton near Penkridge soon.

There are three full-time and two part-time teachers on board.

Before closure, the school had previously catered for pupils up to age 11 closed suddenly on February 26 this year and devastated parents were called to pick up their children.

Mr Wyatt said: "It's going well. Some of the younger pupils have come back."
