Wolverhampton Olympian Kristian Thomas visits his former school
Wolverhampton Olympic bronze medallist Kristian Thomas proved a hit at St Edmund's Catholic School's annual presentation evening.
Pupils and students received certificates and awards for all their hard work for the academic year 2011/2012.
There was a huge turnout of pupils, students, staff, guests and governors to welcome back chief guest and principal speaker, Kristian Thomas, former student and Team GB gymnastics bronze medal winner at this year's games.
Kristian, along with brother Ashley and sister Rebecca, was a former pupil of St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Wolverhampton from 1992-2000.
He started gymnastics at the age of five when his mother used to take him regularly to Earls Gymnastics Club in Halesowen.
Kristian went from strength-to-strength in the sport and became a member of the British team at the age of 10.
From 2000-2007 Kristian attended St Edmund's and, after completing his A Levels, decided to train full time.
His training regime is spread between Earls Gymnastics Club and Lilleshall National Sports Centre, in Shropshire, where he trains for 25-30 hours per week.
Kristian exceeded expectations of the school at the event earlier this month. He presented the certificates and awards beautifully and gave a fantastic speech.
He totally 'wowed' all present with his charisma and charm and was happy to pose for photographs with everyone and display his bronze medal.
Kristian proved a wonderful role model to all students, encouraging them to aim high for the future.
He proved to be a superb ambassador for St Patrick's and St Edmund's and a shining example of what can be achieved as a result of hard work.
If you are interested in following in Kristian's footsteps, attending a school, the goal of which is to support the development of young people who respect themselves, others and the world in which they live; to encourage them in their journey of faith, and to challenge and excite them through the opportunities for learning which the school provides, then go along to the open evening on Wednesday, October 3, from 6pm to 8.30pm.
