New school blazers finally arrive

Students at a new multi-million school in Wolverhampton are now finally sporting their full uniform after a delay in deliveries.

Hundreds of pupils at Highfields Science Specialist School, the city's biggest school, were left without their new blazers for the first week of term.

Supplier Trutex said it has produced all garments in a "significantly shorter" time than their standard time from the point the order was confirmed by the school. Students are now able to collect them from either Buxton & Bonnet, in Victoria Street, Wolverhampton, or Lads & Lasses, in Warstones Road, Penn.

Lads & Lasses manager Tina Bourke said they had received 850 blazers before the weekend and today only had 200 left.

"We've been working almost none stop to get as many children sorted as possible," she said. "We were told they would all be here by September 1 but as it's a bespoke uniform ?– it has just taken a little longer."
