More than half a million pounds will be spent on repair work at six Walsall schools under plans unveiled today.
The £585,000 package of work will see roof repairs carried out, and new windows, heating and fire alarms installed.
Council chiefs are being asked to approve the work at a meeting tomorrow. It comes after £800,000 worth of improvements were completed at 11 primary schools this year. A total of £7 million is to be spent renovating and refurbishing the borough's schools over the next financial year.
Two secondary schools and four primary schools are among those which will benefit from the latest funding.
A report going before the council's cabinet at 6pm tomorrow says: "In order to support the raising of educational attainment and achievement, these projects will provide improved learning environments.
The proposed schemes would result in improved learning environments for pupils and families in Walsall schools."
About £150,000 will be spent to replace roofing on the sports hall at Brownhills School, while Brownhills West Primary School is in line for a £125,000 rewiring and fire alarm replacement scheme.
The final phase of an £80,000 heating replacement scheme will be carried out at Kings Hill Primary School in Darlaston, while replacement fire alarm work will be carried out at Meadow View Primary in Great Barr costing £50,000.
Around £80,000 worth of roofing work would be carried out at Palfrey Infants School along with £100,000 of roof and window replacement work at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College in Aldridge.
Money for the work will come from the educational capital programme with some additional funding from some schools involved.
