A new leadership model is being introduced at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School in Sutton Coldfield, in a move designed to take the school to even higher levels of performance.

From September 2012, under Academy Status, through which the school now enjoys the freedom to explore ground breaking opportunities, David Iddon will become a non-teaching Executive Head, responsible for the future vision, strategic direction and overall academic and business development of the school.

He will also be responsible for the continuing influence of 'The Vesey Foundation' across the wide-ranging Vesey Community.

Dominic Robson is to be promoted from Deputy Head to Headteacher, becoming the Head of the day-to-day leadership and management operations of the school, responsible for the quality of teaching and learning and achievement outcomes. He will also be responsible for maintaining levels of student care, support and guidance and extra curricular provision.

Chair of Governors Clive Richards said: "This cutting edge move will secure the continuity of our progress towards being one of the best schools in the country.

"David Iddon has announced his retirement with effect from the end of August 2013. David and Dominic will be able to embed this new model as a further legacy of the extremely successful ten year period in Vesey history under David's leadership. The Vesey future is very bright indeed and we congratulate both David and Dominic on their new roles within BVGS."
