Audiences at St Dominic's Priory School's glittering production of the musical Annie were magically transported by a hard working cast and stage crew from Stone in Staffordshire back to 1930s New York where economic depression had not dimmed little Annie's firm belief that "the sun will come out tomorrow".
Honorary pupil, Bonny, played Sandy the stray dog befriended by Annie when she runs away from the orphanage.
A school spokesman said: ""We would like to take this opportunity to commend the staff and the cast for all their hard work and the extra rehearsals they attended. Particular mention must go to Miss Lynch (Musical Director and the person who coordinated everything), Miss Henson (for her role as Director for the first time at St. Dominic's) and Mrs Abbotts (choreography and lights).
"Not to forget the wonderful set and props, made by Mrs Wright and her team of volunteers in the Art Dept.
We are justifiably proud at St Dominic's of our Gold Artsmark recognition and Annie lived up to our expectations.
"While academic achievement is of course very important, we believe at St Dominic's that participation in the creative and performing arts helps to empower our pupils and encourages them to grow into well rounded individuals."
