Two would be MasterChefs from Wolverley CE Secondary School took part in the Rotary Young Chef area final.
Year 8 students Jacob Hare and Arthur Jones were at South Bromsgrove School for the contest.
Food technology teacher Mrs Barry said: "Unfortunately, neither of them got through to the next round but they did really well against much older students and, most importantly, are keen to try again next year. We are very proud of their efforts."
Mr Alan Wood, who was involved with organising the competition, said: "Jacob and Arthur did extremely well in the Young Chef competition and I hope they were not too disappointed at not being selected for the next heat.
"They received some good feedback and advice from the judges who provided praise and encouragement for the future. They most certainly were good ambassadors for their school and I hope they enjoyed the experience."
