A new £500,000 sports pitch at a Staffordshire secondary school is set to be given the go-ahead to use floodlights until 10pm on any night of the week.

Residents claim it will impact on their homes as well as local astronomers and golfers on the nearby municipal course.

But Cardinal Griffin Catholic High School in Cardinal Way, Cannock, says it will lose its main funding if the new pitch is not allowed to operate later.
