A Staffordshire secondary school is to become an academy, it was confirmed today, complete with a new name and uniform.

Chasetown Specialist Sports College, Burntwood, will be called Erasmus Darwin Academy when it converts in July.
School governors voted in favour of change this week after a special meeting and consultation. The school has a few weeks to confirm a last few changes with the Department of Education. It was formally granted an Academy Order on March 28 by Education Minister Michael Gove.
Head Bernice Astling said: "We wish to thank stakeholders for their participation in the consultation on academy status.
"We are delighted with the high level of support that we have gained for this important initiative. We look forward to the start of a new chapter in this school's history and even greater success in future."
