Maciej Rozanski from Walsall, died after he fell from the unsafe structure at metal coating company Surface Technik (Old Hill) Limited, Sovereign Works, Lower Gornal, on June 29, 2018. Wolverhampton Crown Court heard he and colleague Stephen Bradley had no formal training for working at such a height.

In a case brought by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the then operations manager at the company, Robert Hammond had already admitted failing to discharge his duty as an employer relating to the death.

A jury on Thursday afternoon took just 24 minutes to find the company - which has since gone into liquidation - guilty of a breach of section two of the Health and Safety act which means they, failed to ensure the  health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees.

Sentence on the company and Hammond, of will be handed down on Friday afternoon.
