Man arrested after police find sock stuffed with cocaine in car in Rugeley

Police have arrested a man after finding a sock stuffed with cocaine when searching a car in Rugeley.

Officers from Staffordshire Police's major and organised crime proactive team approached a man sitting in a car on Horse Fair shortly after 12pm today (March 19). Officers found the drugs, a phone and £345 in cash.

A 26-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug and is being questioned in custody. 

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We have arrested a man after finding a sock stuffed with cocaine after searching a car in Rugeley.

"Officers from our major and organised crime proactive team stopped a man on Horse Fair shortly after 12pm today (19 March) while he was sat in the car. We found the drugs, a phone and £345 in cash.

"A 26-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug. He is being questioned in custody.

"We’re taking the fight to serious and organised crime groups in Staffordshire by working proactively to put a stop to those harming local communities.
