Martin Compton admitted robbing a Sandwell shop in 2023 by threatening staff with a hypodermic needle in a desperate bid to get cash.

The 41-year-old was quickly caught by the police due to leaving a trail of evidence from his first crime which only netted him £20.

Compton, now of Hob Moor Road, Small Heath, pleaded guilty to robbery at Wolverhampton Crown Court this week.
