Officers in Oldbury arrest man on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children

Officers in Oldbury have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children after being provided with information by the community.

The arrest came following a range of resources being brought together today, Thursday, November 28, to focus on the ongoing issue of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

As part of this activity, in the early hours of today its online child sexual exploitation team (OCSET) carried out a warrant in Birmingham, supported by Digital Forensics. 

The Force also brought along its digital dog Oreo, who is specially trained to sniff out electronic devices.

One man, aged 44, was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of making or distributing indecent photographs/images of children. He remains in custody while officers carry out further enquiries.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police, said: "Today sees West Midlands Police bring a range of resources together to focus on the ongoing issue of violence against women and girls (VAWG).
