Multiple arrests, drugs and vehicles seized in crackdown on crime in Birmingham

A proactive police team in Birmingham have been tackling crime in the city this week, with multiple arrests made and drugs and vehicles seized.

Officers from the Op Skybridge team have been in Handsworth, and across Birmingham, carrying out enforcement.

The operation saw multiple arrests made across the city and weapons seized, along with drugs and vehicles.

A 19-year-old man was arrested following a short foot chase before being detained in Victoria Road. A large amount of cannabis was seized, along with a knife.

He was charged with possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply, and possession of a bladed article and will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on December 3.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Washwood Heath Road. Muhammad Khan was charged with possession of Class B drugs.

Two men were arrested in Ivy Road, Handsworth, after being found to be acting suspiciously. Both were arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs. They have since been bailed while  investigations continue.

 Operation Skybridge officers also seized two knives, and a hammer, while patrolling in Handsworth.

They also seized four vehicles after the drivers were found to be driving without insurance.

The vehicles included an Audi S3, an Audi A3, and a stolen motorbike.

Sergeant Leon Butler, said: “It has been a hugely successful start for the team. We have carried out dozens of stop and searches, made multiple arrests, disrupted drug dealing on the streets, and carried out numerous seizures of weapons, drugs, and cars.”
