Wolverhampton worker died 'within seconds' after falling in industrial shredder, court told
A worker died "within seconds" after falling into an industrial shredding machine in front of shocked colleagues, a court has heard.
David Willis, 29, died at Timmins Waste Services in Mander Street, Wolverhampton, September 15, 2018.
The company is on trial for corporate manslaughter, while manager Brian Timmins, 54, of Fair Lawn, Albrighton, is charged with manslaughter and perverting the course of justice.
Prosecuting at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Christina Agnew said: "Mr Willis should not have died, if the company had proper measures in place this would not have happened."
Mrs Agnew, who told jurors that Mr Willis was "obliterated" in the horrifying incident, added: "The Crown contends his death should not have happened and was the fault of the company and Brian Timmins.
