Neighbours and passers by 'terrified by chaos caused by botched fatal cannabis factory raid'
Bewildered residents were caught up in the fatal chaos which happened after gang’s botched raid on a three-storey drugs factory, a court has been told.
Two men were shot dead by crossbow bolts as a family defending cannabis worth more than £35,000 fought tooth and nail to defend their drugs in Brierley Hill in the early hours of February 20, 2020, a jury heard.
One woman’s house was wrecked as a getaway driver crashed into her home and two men driving past had to escape after being threatened with a crossbow.
Prosecutor Robin Sellers told Wolverhampton Crown Court the gang on trial for planning two aggravated burglaries on Black Country cannabis factories tried to carry them out with military precision but their plans fell apart when confronted with better armed owners of the drugs.
He said two cars turned up late to the raid in Pensnett and then an arranged rendezvous between those who had meant to have plundered the cannabis factory and their getaway drivers descended into confusion with two cars crashing as panic set in after Khuzaimah Douglas, 19, was shot dead with a crossbow.
It is alleged the family defending the cannabis, who lived next door to the crop house, mistakenly shot dead one of their own, Waseem Ramzan.
The jury was told the current case was not concerning the deaths of Khuzaimah Douglas and Waseem Ramzan, which has already been dealt with in a separate court case.
