Walsall man who caused a teenager life threatening injuries in an unprovoked knife attack locked up
A Walsall man who caused a teenager life threatening injuries in an unprovoked knife attack has been locked up for more than eight years.
Marshall Barnett, aged 20, was one of two people who stabbed a 16-year-old outside shops near the junction of Caldmore Road and Mount Street in Caldmore on February 24, 2021.
Birmingham Crown Court heard Barnett, then aged 18, was in a group of four who crossed the road at around 3.30pm to confront the youngster, who was walking to a chip shop with a group of friends.
He retreated into a shop doorway when approached, with Barnett and a co-defendant grabbing him by his hood, pulling him on to the pavement and then stabbing him in the abdomen.
After he was stabbed he tried to run away and was struck on the head with an hammer which one of the group produced.
