Man arrested at Wolverhampton McDonald's after punching police officer investigating suspected stolen car

A 24-year-old man has been arrested at a McDonald's in Wolverhampton after punching a police officer who was making inquiries into a stolen car.

The incident happened on Tuesday night at the Penn Road branch of the fast food giant, where the man was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and taking a vehicle without consent.

The car the man had been driving had activated automatic number-plate recognition cameras in the city, with officers spotting the car in the McDonald's car park on Penn Road.
