Lorry crash driver spared prison after causing the death of 'amazing' pensioner

A lorry driver who caused the death of a pensioner in a crash has not been sent to prison for his actions.

Keith Collins was at the wheel of a Scania articulated lorry when he was involved in a collision with a black VW Up driven by David May and a white Ford Fiesta on the A5 at Mile Oak near Lichfield on May 24 last year.

The crash happened on the northbound slip road near the A453 junction at about 5.20pm. Mr May died at the scene.

The defendant, aged 57, was present at the sentencing at Cannock Magistrates Court on Friday after previously admitting an offence of causing the death of the 76-year-old.
