Man 'had to be tasered after punching police officer in scuffle during house call'
A man was restrained with a taser gun and pepper spray when he allegedly punched a police officer giving him a black eye, a trial has heard.
Pc Jack Gopsill and colleague Pc Jessica Simmonds were responding to reports of a man smashing up a house in Pensnett Road in Brockmoor near Brierley Hill at about 3.30pm on January 7.
Andrew Mumba-Zulu is on trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court in his absence, accused of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.
Mr Jas Dhailwal, prosecuting barrister, told the jury that the 28-year-old opened the door to the officers, but then refused to step outside to speak to them.
He said: "They were told it was a domestic incident and that someone was inside with a sledgehammer smashing up the room.
