Wolverhampton MP's safety fears after man convicted of harassment with emails and shouting
A man has been convicted of a harassing an MP, who was so concerned for his family’s safety that he moved house.
Clive Bowden sent a string of abusive emails to Wolverhampton South West MP Stuart Anderson and shouted at his staff.
At a trial at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court, Bowden said he had reasonable concerns, but felt ignored by several agencies including the NHS when he asked for support for depression.
He said he had been seeking the MP’s help as a last straw when the incidents happened between September 1, 2021 and March 31 last year.
Bowden previously denied a charge of pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of Stuart Anderson MP and which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of him, in that the defendant emailed his constituency office over 100 times, including sending many emails which were abusive in nature, and he also called and attended the office and behaved in an aggressive manner during this period.
