Human remains found at Black Country landfill site

A landfill site in the Black Country was cordoned off after human remains were discovered.

A bone was found by workers at Himley Quarry Landfill Site in Kingswinford.

West Midlands Police was alerted to the find on Monday and is now working to find out who the remains belong to.

Officers have been searching the area, near Himley Road and the Crooked House pub, since the bone was found.

It is not currently linked to any ongoing investigations but will undergo further forensic and archaeological analysis.

Vehicles from West Midlands Police's Incident Support Unit were seen parked at the Oak Lane site on Tuesday.

Sections of the landfill site were also seen cordoned off, with blue police tape stretching across a road.

Another police van was also seen parked in the entrance to the landfill site, within an industrial area on Oak Lane next to the entrance to the landfill site.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a human bone was discovered at Himley Quarry landfill site, Kingswinford.

"The area has been cordoned off for further searches to be carried out.

"It will undergo forensic and archaeological analysis.

"There is no information linking this discovery to a criminal investigation at this stage."
