Teenagers arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shots fired in Walsall

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder – as detectives continue to investigate a shooting in Walsall.

A silver 4x4 crashed into a stationary black VW Golf at the junction of King Street and Cobden Street at around 1pm on May 4.

Seconds later, shots were fired from another vehicle. The occupants of the 4x4 then set their vehicle alight and made off. The fire spread to the Golf and a nearby house.

A 20-year-old man who was injured has now been released from hospital, while a woman, aged 34, is still receiving treatment for her injuries.

Two 16-year-old boys have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident. One has since been released on bail, while the other remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Chris Fox, from West Midlands Police's force CID, said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace.

“We know the impact on those involved and the wider community is significant and we remain committed to understanding what happened and why.

“We’re still keen to speak to anyone who has information but hasn’t yet spoken to us.”
