Travellers move onto council-owned site in Lichfield

The city council and Staffordshire Police are working to evict the travellers, who have been on Saddlers Wood since Tuesday.

Lichfield Police posted on Facebook on Monday saying: "Police have been aware of a traveller site at Saddlers Wood in Lichfield since Tuesday 11th May.

"Officers are currently working alongside Lichfield District Council, who own the land to arrange for individuals to be moved on.

"The council has served Statutory Notices that enable it to apply to the court for an eviction. We are aware that the travellers remain at the location, and council officers are continuing to follow the legal process for eviction to take place.

"Officers will continue to patrol the area to provide reassurance and further updates will provided in due course."
