Machete found after police chase using helicopter and dogs in Dudley

Police chased a suspected stolen car and used a helicopter and a dog to try to hunt down the suspects.

Officers based in Brierley Hill saw a suspected stolen black Nissan Note on Wednesday and chased it around Coseley and Tipton.

The suspects fled onto a canal and despite officers bringing in a police dog and helicopter managed to get away.

Machetes and a sanding tool were found in the vehicle.

The West Midlands Police alert said: "Whilst on patrol officers from C team response, based at Brierley Hill police station, saw a stolen black Nissan Note.

"The car failed to stop and had been involved in multiple crimes since being stolen. We pursued the car around Coseley and Tipton and the offenders abandoned the car running onto a nearby canal.

"We conducted an area search using a police dog and helicopter but unfortunately we could not locate the offenders.

"From the vehicle we recovered the pictured machetes and an Erbauer sanding tool.

"We believe the sanding tool is stolen possibly from a van, if you recognise this as belonging to you please contact 101 quoting log number 4182 21/4/21."
