Mr Lomas has been described by relatives as a "very kind soul" – and someone who loved life and would help anyone.

The 56-year-old was discovered dead at a property off Stratford Road, in Hall Green, at around 6pm on Friday, April 2.

Police say the cause of death was initially unclear but a post-mortem examination revealed he died as a result of a stab wound, prompting a murder enquiry.

In a statement, his family said: "Kevin was a loving son and brother who had a great sense of humour. He was an all round decent man who enjoyed life and never saw wrong in anybody.

"He loved his family and friends as well his passion for football and music. He also loved to dance.

"Kevin would never think twice about helping anyone and was a very kind soul.

"Kevin will be so greatly missed, we are broken and devastated."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two people, a man aged 42 and 37-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of murder last Wednesday and have been bailed while enquiries continue.

"Officers have been carrying out CCTV and other enquiries in the area and we remain keen to speak to anyone with information.

"We particularly want to hear from anyone who was passing through the Stratford Road and York Road area and may have seen, or has dash cam or other footage, which captures anyone acting suspiciously either on the day or in the days beforehand."

Anyone with information can call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log number 3310 of April 2. Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
