Arrests after serious assault closes Walsall Railway Station

Two men have been arrested after a serious assault, believed to be a stabbing, at Walsall Railway Station today.

Police were at the scene this afternoon after the incident which happened at about midday and closed the station.

The teenage victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police said: "Officers are currently on scene at Walsall station following reports of a serious assault at around 12pm.

"Two people have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and are being taken to police custody for questioning.

"The victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The station is currently closed while officers conduct enquiries into the incident.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 186 of 17/03/21."

British Transport Police confirmed the victim is receiving treatment for injuries consistent with a stabbing and said it is not believed to be life-threatening.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.04pm to Station Street, Walsall. An ambulance, paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic attended.

"One teenage boy was given trauma treatment on scene for serious injuries before being conveyed to hospital."
