Imitation firearm found at scene of fatal Wolverhampton house fire

An imitation firearm was seized from the scene of a house fire where a man died, police say.

The object was taken from the property in Dawson Avenue, in Woodcross, Wolverhampton, on Monday.

The man was found dead inside the terraced property after the blaze broke in the living room early that morning.

A woman, believed to be his partner, managed to get out the building and her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances which led to the house fire.

A spokesman for the force said: "We can confirm that a firearm, believed to be an imitation, was seized at the scene of a fatal house fire in Dawson Avenue, Woodcross on Monday.

"Our investigations are continuing."
