Cyclist suffers serious head injuries in Birmingham collision

An investigation has been launched after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Birmingham city centre.

A car collided with a cyclist just before 2am on Tuesday on Old Snow Hill, near to St Chads Queensway.

The cyclist – a 49-year-old man – was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting West Midlands Police with their enquiries.

Road closures have been in place since the early hours of the morning, while police forensically examine the scene.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are trying to understand what happened during the early hours of this morning and need anyone who saw anything, or has any dash-cam footage, to get in touch as soon as they can.”
