Arrest after man stabbed to death in city park attack

An arrest has been made after a man was stabbed in a Birmingham park and later died.

The suspect was held on suspicion of murder in the early hours of this morning.

They will be questioned over the death of the 29-year-old victim, who was stabbed a number of times in the chest and back at around 2.30pm on Friday in Summerfield Park, Dudley Road, Winson Green.

A post-mortem was taking take place today, and the victim’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Laura Harrison, leading the investigation, said: "Our investigation is moving really quickly, but I still need to hear from anyone in the area at the time who saw or heard anything and who’s not yet spoken to us.

“We also really need to speak to anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage that might help us."
