A voice message was left in which threats were even made to Stuart Anderson’s children.

Conservative MP for Wolverhampton South West Mr Anderson says he personally received death threats, and that he, his family and his staff have become the subjects of “targeted harassment”.

He said the attacks started in June and have escalated following protests against lockdown measures and a Labour-led campaign against a vote on free school meals provision in holidays championed by Marcus Rashford.

Mr Anderson said police were forced to step up patrols outside his office after a spate of vandal attacks, one of which saw the word “scum” painted on its front.

Staff were now in fear for their safety, Mr Anderson added.

He said: “My colleagues and I should be free to do our jobs without facing any form of intimidation, harassment, or violence. No Member of Parliament, their office, or family should be made to experience such abuse.”

It comes after a man was handed a suspended sentence last week after admitting criminal damage following an attack on Mr Anderson’s office in the city during July.

This case was not related to the abuse targeting the MP’s family or the other incidents.

Police are meanwhile investigating abuse which has been directed to at least three other West Midlands MPs as well, the Express & Star understands.
