Family pay tribute to 'beautiful' grandmother fatally stabbed to death
The family of a murdered grandmother have been left "beyond devastated and heartbroken" after she was killed last week.
Marie Gladders, 51, from Chelmsley Wood, was pronounced dead by police at George Road, in Stockland Green, Birmingham, last Thursday evening.
Her family said in a statement: "We are beyond devastated and heartbroken over the tragic loss of our beautiful mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, partner and friend.
"To lose her in such a cruel way is deeply saddening, and we pray that justice is served for her. We hope that she is at peace now.
"Sleep tight mom until we meet you again, we love you to infinity."
Mark Masefield, aged 52, of George Road, was charged with Marie’s murder last Friday.
He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded into custody.
Detective Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from the force's homicide team, said: "My thoughts remain with Marie’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time."
