Barbers left devastated after thieves strike in Tipton on first night of lockdown
An appeal has been launched by the owner of a barbers after it was broken into and thousands of pounds of equipment was stolen on the first night of lockdown.
Paul Simmons opened Simmons Barbershop in Dudley Port, Tipton, over the summer and invested thousands in a computer and iPad when the Prime Minister told businesses to take appointments and card payments.
But after closing for lockdown on Wednesday the business was broken into and the computer, iPad, a camera and Mr Simmons' barber tools were stolen.
He has since launched a fundraising page to help keep him in business.
Mr Simmons said: "When I came to the shop on Thursday the back door was open. It took me a second to realise what happened.
"I had to buy a computer to do appointments as that's what Boris Johnson said, that was about £1,300, then he said no cash so I bought an iPad.
"They took the computer, iPad and a camera. They've taken my tools, clippers and things like that.
"I said to the people that work for me to make sure they take their tools home over lockdown but I didn't.
"Boris Johnson has put me out of business and now these people have stopped me working.
"It'll probably cost £4,000 to replace and repair everything.
"I rang the police about 2.40pm on Thursday and a day later they still haven't been to the shop. I just want my tools back so I can earn a living."
