Arrest after woman refuses to wear face mask at bus station

A woman was arrested at Wolverhampton Bus Station after allegedly refusing to wear a face covering then becoming aggressive.

Officers spoke to the 24-year-old who wasn't wearing a mask when they were on patrol earlier today, West Midlands Police said.

But she refused and was arrested for a public order matter.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers were on patrol at Wolverhampton Bus Station in Pipers Row this morning when they spoke to a woman who wasn’t wearing a mask.

“She was spoken to about the legal requirement to wear a face covering on public transport and at transport hubs in order to limit the spread of coronavirus.

“The woman refused and acted aggressively towards officers.

“A 24-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested for a public order matter."
