CCTV appeal after attack leaves man with serious head injury
Police are continuing to appeal for information after a man was seriously injured in an assault in Birmingham city centre.
Officers received reports of men causing trouble in a convenience store in Upper Dean Street at around 10.10pm on Monday, October 5.
Moments later, a man was punched in the head – sustaining a serious injury and he remains in hospital in a critical, but stable, condition more than a week later.
Detectives from West Midlands Police investigating the attack have now released an image of a man they want to identify who may have information.
Three men and two women, aged between 26 and 39 years old, who were arrested on suspicion of assault have all been released on bail with conditions.
Detective Inspector Richard Marsh from the Force CID team, said: “The motive of the attack remains unclear, but this appears to be an unprovoked attack on a lone victim. We’re continuing to work hard to find out what happened to the man and what happened in the moments before the assault.
“I am asking anyone who may have information on that night’s events and hasn’t already spoken to us, to come forward.
“If you recognise the man in this image, please contact us."
