Masked robbers attack taxi driver in Dudley
A taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in Dudley by two masked men.
The men approached the 64-year-old driver just before 1.50am on Brook Street, Woodsetton, in the early hours of Monday morning.
They told him to open the door and, when he refused, smashed a window with a scaffold pole.
He was then hit on the head, before the two men made off with his car key, phone and wallet.
Fortunately, the driver was not seriously hurt.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We were called after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in Woodsetton during the early hours of Monday morning.
"Two masked men approached the 64-year-old who was collecting a fare just before 1.50am on Brook Street.
"They told him to open the door and when he refused they smashed a window with a scaffold pole. The driver was hit on the head before the two men made off with his car key, phone and wallet.
"Although shaken, the taxi driver was not seriously hurt.
"We are speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV."
