Boy, 16, admits murdering teenager in Dudley
A 16-year-old has admitted murdering a teenager who was stabbed to death in the Black Country.
Harvey Waterfield, aged 19 and from Wednesbury, died after being stabbed in the neck in the Russells Hall area of Dudley on March 16 year.
He died at the scene in Spring Pool Meadow despite being helped by members of the public.
A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted killing Harvey at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday. He will be sentenced at the same court on December 4.
Three other men also appeared in court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to violent disorder. They are Christopher Halford, 28, from Middle Park Road, Dudley; Connor Oakley, 18, from Spring Pool Meadow, Dudley; and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age.
They will also be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court in December.
In a statement earlier this year, Harvey's heartbroken family said: "As a family we are devastated at the loss of our son Harvey.
"He was an amazing son and brother and words can’t possibly explain how we are all feeling.”
Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, from West Midlands Police's homicide team, said: “Harvey’s death was simply tragic.
“The guilty pleas entered today will save Harvey’s family from having to go through the ordeal of a trial.
“Knife crime and violence are completely unacceptable and there is no place for either within our communities.
“The consequences are devastating, Harvey was a young man with his whole life ahead of him.
"My thoughts are with his family and friends.”
