The victim, who is in her 70s, was shopping in Compton Hospice charity shop on September 23 when she noticed her purse had been stolen.

Staffordshire Police have obtained CCTV from the shop.

Megan McAndrew, PCSO for Cannock, said: "In the meantime, when you are shopping in Cannock, please close / zip handbags fully, and hold them to the front where you can.

"Tactics we regularly observe on CCTV are offenders working in twos or threes. One offender acting as a look-out down an aisle, and the other may 'accidentally' bump into the victim, or distract the victim by asking them to reach an item on a high shelf.

"Stay alert and please inform elderly relatives who you know will be shopping in town."
