Former Staffordshire Pc charged with misconduct over relationship with woman
A former Staffordshire Police constable is due in court charged with misconduct in public office.
The charge against Paul Baron, 53, is in connection with an alleged attempt to form an inappropriate relationship with a woman he had met during the course of his duties.
It follows an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The investigation began in February 2019, following a referral from the force and following the completion of the IOPC's enquiries in December, it submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider charges.
The CPS made the decision to charge Baron in May, at which time he was no longer serving with the force.
Baron is due to make a first appearance at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday.
