Man injured in Birmingham shooting

A man was injured in a shooting in Birmingham today

West Midlands Police were called to Lozells Road, in Aston, after reports of shots being fired.

On arrival, they found the man injured at the scene and being treated by paramedics, although the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

A number of witnesses were spoken to at the scene of the incident, which took place shortly after midday.

An appeal has gone out for further witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Lozells Road in Aston at 12.35pm today to reports of shots being fired.

"One man was found injured at the scene and is being treated by paramedics.

"The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

"A number of witnesses are being spoken to, but anyone with information has been asked to contact us via west-midlands.police.uk, via 101, or via @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111. quoting log 1748."
