Fifth man arrested over murder of Reece Cox in Sedgley
A fifth man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering 24-year-old father Reece Cox in Sedgley.
The 19-year-old was detained at an address in Birmingham this morning over the brutal killing of Mr Cox on Saturday night.
Four men aged in their 20s - who were arrested on Tuesday - also remain in custody today after detectives were granted more time to question them.
Mr Cox's killing has caused shock and anger in the community after it is understood he stepped in to protect another man who was being assaulted close to The Clifton pub, on Sedgley's Bull Ring.
He died at the scene just before midnight after he was violently punched and kicked.
Tributes have flooded in for Mr Cox, with people lauding him as a hero.
He was described as "lovely" and "a gentle giant" by his devastated family and friends.
Floral tributes and a Wolves scarf have been left on metal railings outside the Wetherspoons-owned pub.
Three men were detained from two different addresses in Lower Gornal while a fourth was arrested from a Pensnett address.
A fundraising page set up for Mr Cox's family has now reached more than £7,500.
Dudley's police commander, Superintendent Jason Anderson, said: "This is a despicable crime where a young man has tragically lost his life. An entire community has been affected by this shocking incident and we urge those responsible to do the right thing and hand themselves in.
"Local officers continue to support the community and we thank them for the information they have already provided."
